Reflections on Ready Cash – legendary racehorse and sire of sires

The recent death of Ready Cash (RC) at age 18 caused review and revealed the exceptional impact RC had on the racetrack and even more so as a sire.

Ready Cash (Blodbanken, LeTrot, Breedly Photo)

He is certainly a KING in the trotting sport. He won 4,282,300€ and earned a speed record of 1.10.3kr winning 39 times in 68 career starts under the direction of Philippe Allaire and Thierry Duvaldestin. He won the Prix d’Amerique twice in 2011 and 2012 and was second in 2013. He also won numerous Amerique qualifying races and the Grand Prix de France twice and Grand Prix de Paris once. RC raced from 2007 to 2014, More importantly his sired foals were born from 2010 to current and more to follow. Through 2022 he has 1,032 foals from which 692 have qualified (67%) and earned over 69.4€ million.

He is clearly the sire of sires in Europe. He has fathered 11 winners of over 1,000,000€ plus two UDSD1,000,000 plus winners in North America (Back Of The Neck US$1,463,733 and Ready For Moni US$1,204,068).

The exemplary RC race record is shown below.

His pedigree and breeding statistics also follow here.

Top Performers – 11 million euro plus winners in Europe plus 2 in the USA in US$. Of these only one is a female (Flamme du Goutier) and only geldings (Arlington Dream, Bugsy Malone) appear in the top 15 European money winners listed below. Ready Cash mares are starting to show up in the winner’s circle as well.

For this report my objective was to focus on the RC sired sires. I researched 25 that are standing stud and that’s too many to report this day. There are four that are reported now, Bold Eagle, Face Time Bourbon, Readly Express and Bird Parker. Note that both Bold Eagle and Face Time Bourbon won the Prix d’Amerique twice and Readly Express won the classic once as Ready Cash won the Legend Race twice as previously mentioned. Combined these four RC offspring won 120 times in 222 starts and excluding Bird Parker that stat is 104 wins from 142 starts. Their combined earnings of these four totals 12,843,000€. Now for the profiles:

Top Five Performers of Readly Express

Top Performers of Bird Parker – led by Ideale du Chene

Someday we will complete the analysis for the remaining RC stallions that include Traders, Italiano Vero, Eridan, Fabulous Wood, Feeling Cash, Flocki d’Aurcy, Django Riff, Brillantissime, Charly du Noyer, Cash And Go, Cash Gamble, Cash Okay, Atlas de Joudes, Impressionist (a winner Saturday at Vincennes), Gotand, Golden Bridge, Feliciano and many more that surely will follow from 2023-24 foals.

Ready Cash deserves a book that also illustrates structure, gait, endurance, early speed, “vigor” of the breed and impact of matings with the pure American standardbred. Watch out for Ready Cash mares in the years ahead as well.
