Rod Stewart wins Energima Cup Final

Jerry Riordan’s trainee Rod Stewart (6m Love You-Valley Lane-Lindy Lane) got up in the final strides for Bjorn Goop to capture the Energima Cup Final (purse €58,442, 1609 meters autostart, International, eight starters).

Away from post two Goop eased the winner to fourth on the pegs and then pulled first up at the 3/8 mile mark and ground up alongside pacesetter Ringostarr Treb (6m Classic Photo-Farsalo Egral-Supergill) with Wim Paal teaming for Holger Ehlert.

The game pair battled stretch long with Rod Stewart a close winner in 1:54.57 mile time.

Rafolo was third and Royal Ice ended fourth.

Rod Stewart was off at 2.94/1 on the ATG network and 5.8/1 on PMU.

The top two finishers were winners of their elimination heats.
