Schampus wins German Trotting Derby in Berlin

Schampus (4m Propulsion-Kokette) rallied down the tarmac side to capture today’s German Trotting Derby at Berlin Mariendorf.

Off at 2.8/1 from post one in the 1900 meter autostart course, the Josef Franzk trained and reined performer earned 124,820€first prize for Gestut Lasbek. He captured the fastest Derby Elim on August third and now has three wins, a second and two thirds in his last six outings.

Y Not Diamant (4g Odessa Santana) was a game second for Robin Bakker and trainer P{aul Hagoort with Gio Cash (4m Victor Gio-Give Me Love) third for Dion P. Tesselaar. These three all won their elimination races.

The Derby Consolation (purse to winner 10,000€, 1900 meters autostart, eight starters) went to 4/1 odds Duncan Lawrence (4m Propulsion-Lady Josine) for Robbin Bot driving for Erwin Bot and Gerrits Trading GmbH. Mac Idzara (4g Johnny William) was second for Jeffrey H. Mieras and Cash To Thelimit (4m Father Patrick) was third for trainer/driver Gerhard Mayr.

Earlier on the program was a trot for two year olds carrying a 7,500€purse and raced over 1900 meters autostart. Valnes Phenix (2m Fabulous Wood-Poppy-Viking Kronos) was a fast closing winner for driver Jaap van Rijn and trainer Erwin Bot at 5.1/1 odds. Otis Dream (2m Broadway Fortuna) was second for Dion P. Tesselaar ahead of Zapado S (2m Credit Winner-Zora Don) handled by Robbin Bot for Erwin Bit and Gerrits Trading.
