The Prix de Chateaurenard to Trebol

February 12, 2015 – Trebol (8m Hot Blues – Sally Can Wait) rallied for trainer/driver Gabriel-Angel Pou Pou to secure the Prix de Chateaurenard (€75,000 purse, 2100 meters autostart, 15 European starters, Quinte+ with jackpot €2.1 million) clocked in 1.11.8kr with an excellent last 500 meters (fractions: 1.06.7kr at 1500; 1.10kr at 1000; 1.12.6kr at 500).

The Spanish invader, that usually races well at the winter meet, is owned by Olivia Crespi-Perez and was off today at 5.3/1. Pacesetter (at 59/1) Tabrize de Gete (8m Ganymede – Kabrizia du Gete) held second for driver David Thomain with Sweden’s 9/10 favorite Traveling Man (10m Supergill – Kimberly Lobell) third for Bjorn Goop. Italy’s Orione Degi Dei (7g Conway Hall – Elissa Dei) was fourth at 12/1 for Franck Nivard.

Favorite Anna Mix (5f Ludo de Castelle – Ires), off at 9/10 with Franck Nivard up, took the Prix de Nevers (€110,000, Gr. III, 2850 meters distance handicap, 10 starters) in 1.14.2kr with the quick last 500 meters (fractions: 1.18kr at 1500; 1.15.4kr at 1000, 1.15.2kr at 500). Franck Leblanc trains and owns the rugged mare now with nine career victories and earnings of €464,300. Anette de Mirel (5f Laetender Diem – Lisa du Mirel) was second at 50/1 for Eric Raffin, trainer Anders Lindqvist and owner/breeder Anette Holmgren. The top finishers both overcame 25 meter handicaps. Va Tres Bien (6g Nez Perce – Giboulee de Mars) was third for Pierre Vercruysse at 16/1. Noel Busset trains this one.

The Gr. II Prix Edouard Marcillac (€120,000 purse, 2175 meters, monte, males, 9 starters) went to fast-finishing Carlos des Caux (3m Mien – Star Dodienville) with Mathieu Abrivard up at 2.7/1. Jacques Bruneau trains the four length winner that was timed in 1.15.1kr. Chalimar de Guez (3m Nahar de Beval – Phebe du Guez) was second for Damien Bonne and trainer J-M Bazire with third to Cash Phil (3m Ready Cash – Orelic Phil) with Joann Lebourgeois up for trainer/owner Philippe Allaire.

The Gr. II Prix Holly du Locton (€120,000, monte, 11 starters, 2175 meters) ended in an easy victory,clocked in 1.15.2kr, for 3/2 favorite Ciperla Mag (3f Quaker Jet – Perle du Revary) handled by Mathieu Mottier for trainer Bruno Bourgoin. 15/1 Corsica (3f Coktail Jet – Jarifante) was second for Anne Barthelemy and trainer Guillaume Moinon, ahead of Carina de Gueron (3f Paisy Dream – Narbonne) with jockey Antoine Lherete for trainer Franck Anne at 55/1.

Earlier in the solid card, the Prix de Mancenat (€48,000 purse, 2175 meters, 12 starters) went to 20/1 Avatar Bataille (5m Gazouillis – Quinzeline) with trainer/owner/driver Philippe Ternisien. He scored in 1.12.1kr off quick fractions (1.09.8kr at 1500; 1.10.1kr at 1000; 1.11.5kr at 500), defeating 9/10 favorite Attacus (5g Hand du Vivier – Nelocata) with Eric Raffin up for trainer Sebastien Guarato and Artiste du Lys (5g Oiseau de Feux – Jaquissime) and teamster William Bigeon at 7/1 for trainer Jean Luc Bigeon.
