Yearling sales season booming

The 2023 harness racing yearling sale season is well underway. This week featured the Solvalla Yearling Sale where 142 top bred yearlings were catalogued. Of that group 102 sold for an average of 397,598SEK; the median price was 300,000SEK.

Sale toppers were hip 136 (Eire, filly by Walner-Vivacious Allie-Muscle Hill that sold for 3,400,000SEK to SRF Stable); hip 99 (Prince Boko, colt by Tactical Landing-Gorgeous Boko-Zola Boko) that Denco AB acquired for 1,500,000SEK); and hip 113 (Pure Glamour, filly by Ready Cash-Fleur Mearas-Love You) that Stall Goop AB bought for 1,500,000SEK).

The other high-priced yearlings included Universe Tile (filly by Walner-Pat Matters-Explosive Matter) for 1,100,000SEK by SRF; Mace Winder (male by Greenshoe-Heaven AM-Bold Eagle) for 1,300,000SEK by Magnus Aisoland; Mamma Mia Sisu (filly by Walner-Mother Bonne-Trixton) for 1,000,000SEL to Jack De Jong.

A few days prior was the Derby Auktion at Berlin Mariendorf. There 88 yearlings were cataglogued with 53 sold for an average of 15,830€. The toppers were a pair of 60,000€ yearlings (Valinor by Varenne and Paolo di Quattro by Fabulous Wood) that were acquired by Karin Walter-Mommert.
