Zseneroz wins Istvan Szent DIJ at Kincsem Park

A superb Kincsem Park harness racing stakes program on Saturday afternoon in Budapest, Hungary was led by the Istvan Szent DIJ (2,00,000Huf purse, 1960 meters distance handicap, three year olds and up).

Here the impressive Zseneroz (6f SJs Photo-Hitelezo-Witsends Speedy) overcame a 60 meter handicap and rallied late for a nearly two length score in 1.17.8kr. The 5.1/1 odds winner was teamed by Gyorgy Horvath for trainer Zoltan Ozvar and she was bred by Kabale Menes.

Zseneroz recorded her fifth 2021 victory from eight starts and she has 15 lifetime wins in 47 appearances now for 21,575,600Huf earned.

Second was 19/1 and 60 meter handicapped Zlatan LIW (6g Miguel Duhanek) for Arpad Lakatos, and third was 6.5/1 Casinio Royale (3f Marengo) handled by Imre Soos II. The speed record for this stake is 1.15.9kr set in 2019 by Ujrazz!.

The Jungfrau DIJ (purse 1,200,000Huf, 1960 meters distance handicap) named after a prolific HU broodmare, saw 3.2/1 odds Adriana Ast (5f Frullino Jet-Cameron Diaz-Baltic Speed) score in 1.17.2kr, getting up in the final strides for trainer/driver Veljko Mazsity.

Bred by Kabala Menes this one defeated Zante Font (6f Quaker Jet) for Goran Zolnaji and third finishing Ubu Kiraly (8m Vioxx SR) for Lajos Marton at the lines.

The Janos Szalay Memorial (purse 1,100,000Huf, 1800 meters autostart, two year olds) saw1.6/1 Diamond Ville (2m Maximus Lindy-Izaville-Endless Sands) score in 1.22.2kr, his third straight victory to begin his career. Mitja Slavic trains and piloted this winner.

The stake record time in 1.20.6kr set in 2017 by Zeal di Girifalco. Devoted (2m Maharajahj) was second for trainer/driver Emil Csordas and Dasha Ville CD (2f Zerberus) was third for Goran Zolnaji.

Earlier in the Lajos and Laszlo Dome Memorial (purse 600,000HUf, 1800 meters autostart) the veteran Velocity (7g SJs Photo-Katchmeifyoucan MS-Slash) held on gamely for a 1.16.9kr timed score with Csaba Lakotos aboard at 7.4/1 odds.
