On North American harness racing tracks it’s all about speed over a mile trip, in Australia it’s a mix of both standing start and mobile features across a range of track sizes, in New Zealand it could be about an extreme two-mile contest or a grass track race featuring non-race winners and in Europe the champion trotter is celebrated as a king of the track.
In Harnesslink Race Replays of the Week we bring you a snapshot into the very best contests from around the harness racing tracks of the world.
NEW ZEALAND REPLAY
Brad Reid covered the feature $25,000 Hilarious Guest 3YO Fillies Classic at Addington Raceway on Friday night with favoured runners Duchess Megxit and Treacherous Baby putting on a show. The two star three-year-olds went to the line neck and neck and, as it transpired, couldn’t be separated by the judge at the line. The winning time for the 1980m mobile journey was 2:24.0, with a mile rate of 1:57.0. The event set up numerous conversations as most of the fillies progress towards the G1 Nevele R Fillies Final on Cup Day.
Too close to decipher a margin.
CANADIAN REPLAY
Nicholas Barnsdale reported on a horse on something of a winning run on Saturday with Malevolent, a two-year-old by Malicious making it 5 stakes events in a row with a powerful win at Northside Downs. The 1.56.4 this time around enough to see off Income Approach and One Can Dan in the run to the line. The win sees Malevolent move to 8 from 9 for the career
USA REPLAY
A feature meeting full of Breeders crown elimination races took place at Meadowlands over the weekend with Harnesslink covering the major events via in-time updates. Picking out an impressive or stand-out victory is a hard thing to do with a card of this quality but we’ll have to mention the effort of Ruthless Hanover in taking out the $25,000 Breeders Crown Open Pace second elimination.
A slick 1.48.1 was enough to see off a classy field that included eventual runner-up Abuckabett Hanover and South Beach Star who took minor honors.
