On North American harness racing tracks it’s all about speed over a mile trip, in Australia it’s a mix of both standing start and mobile features across a range of track sizes, in New Zealand it could be about an extreme two-mile contest or a grass track race featuring non-race winners and in Europe the champion trotter is celebrated as a king of the track.
In Harnesslink Race Replays of the Week we bring you a snapshot into the very best contests from around the harness racing tracks of the world.
NEW ZEALAND REPLAY
Bruce Stewart covered the running of the Waikouaiti Pacers Cup yesterday. The grass track feature proved a competitive race but, in the end, the evergreen hooves of Homebush Lad, a Hope runner that simply loves racing both at Oamaru and on the grass, proved too strong in the home straight. Homebush Lad has fashioned an amazing record at the track, a record that now stands at 3 wins and 2 minor placings from 6 starts.
AMERICAN REPLAY
Garnet Barnsdale covered some Open action from Yonkers Raceway recently with Simon Says Hanover continuing a strong run of form at the track with a third consecutive victory. A move out to make a charge at the three-eighths pole proved the winning of the race with Simon Says Hanover seeing off race rivals in a smart 1:52.3.
CANADIAN REPLAY
Nicholas Barnsdale covered the unstoppable Taurasi over the weekend. The son of Racing Hill simply can’t be beaten at the moment, taking out another Preferred Pace event at Woodbine Park on Saturday. Leading all the way, Taurasi scored impressively in 1.52.3. The win bringing his race record to 15-for-34 lifetime while earning $455,321 in the process.
We’ll be back in seven days time with more race replays of the week.
