On North American harness racing tracks it’s all about speed over a mile trip, in Australia it’s a mix of both standing start and mobile features across a range of track sizes, in New Zealand it could be about an extreme two-mile contest or a grass track race featuring non-race winners and in Europe the champion trotter is celebrated as a king of the track.
In Harnesslink Race Replays of the Week we bring you a snapshot into the very best contests from around the harness racing tracks of the world.
USA REPLAY
It’s not often we get to cover a replay that’s been reported on by our very own John Berry. Mr Berry reported on some amateur racing action out of Northfield Park on Monday with Stoney Ridgetop (Wishing Stone) and harness racing driver John Konesky III impressing in Great Lakes Amateur Driving Series (GLADA. The 1.56.1 clocked was a pretty impressive time too, enough to see off race rivals at least. Catch the footage below.
CANADIAN REPLAY
Nicholas Barnsdale covered another record-breaking performance for us last week when Oceanview Daisy (E L Rocket) broke the Truro Raceway harness racing track record for three-year-old trotting fillies on Friday. The long-standing record tumbled when she produced a strong 1:59.1 to take out a Atlantic Sires Stakes (AtSS) event. watch the replay below.
NEW ZEALAND REPLAY
Justcallmemiki (Always B Miki) could well be one to follow if a strong Addington win on Friday is anything to go by. The Cullen trained three-year-old dictated terms in a slow tempo, ramping up the speed when asked to by Blair Orange to steam away from race rivals over the final furlong. Three-year-old features are being lined up for the now 3-time winner. Bruce Stewart covered the good win.
AUSTRALIAN REPLAY
Bruce Stewart covered a Kiwi trotter doing the winning thing on Australian soil on Saturday night as Bet N Win took the continent by storm, taking out the Stellar Square by some 2.5 meters with a strong win when driven by B Butt. The smart trotter has his sights on some major trotting features to come yet with the Group One $150,000 The Great Square his immediate target. View the emphatic victory here.
