On North American harness racing tracks it’s all about speed over a mile trip, in Australia it’s a mix of both standing start and mobile features across a range of track sizes, in New Zealand it could be about an extreme two-mile contest or a grass track race featuring non-race winners and in Europe the champion trotter is celebrated as a king of the track.
In Harnesslink Race Replays of the Week we bring you a snapshot into the very best contests from around the harness racing tracks of the world.
NEW ZEALAND REPLAY
It’s fair to say the effort of Muchacho to win at Winton is worth looking at. Bruce Stewart reported on the big win for the son of Always B Miki after he was left stranded out wide from a wide barrier and obtained little cover throughout the running of the mile trip. The Orange driven runner digging deep over the final furlong to score well despite the troubled trip in transit.
CANADIAN REPLAY
It’s hard to win a solitary race let alone a total of 30 but that’s exactly what West Coast Beach did on Friday when taking out the Preferred at Fraser Downs. Nicholas Barnsdale reported on the 1.53.1 run which was slick enough to see off race rivals including Waitin Ona River and Rum N Raisins who rounded off the top 3. West Coast Beast surpassed $200,000 in lifetime earnings with the victory.
AUSTRALIAN REPLAY
It’s one of the great Western Australian feature events and on Friday night Christopher Dance made the Group 1 $200,000 Sky Racing Western Australia Pacing Derby his own, the star pacer unleashed an amazing burst from wide on the track to score in emphatic style. Menemsha and ThenU Came filled the top three placings.
