On North American harness racing tracks it’s all about speed over a mile trip, in Australia it’s a mix of both standing start and mobile features across a range of track sizes, in New Zealand it could be about an extreme two-mile contest or a grass track race featuring non-race winners and in Europe the champion trotter is celebrated as a king of the track.
In Harnesslink Race Replays Of The Week we bring you a snapshot into the very best contests from around the harness racing tracks of the world.
AUSTRALIAN FEATURE
Amanda Rando covered NSW Breeders Challenge series racing at Menangle last week which saw a record broken in the process. The 1.50.5 for the mile from Major delight lowered the mile record for a two-year-old filly by more than a second.
NEW ZEALAND FEATURE
Brad Reid reported on the Addington harness racing action on Friday night with a number of features on their premier card. The Group 1 3YO Flying Stakes saw Akuta bounce back from a shock defeat last time out. The Mark Purdon and Hayden Cullen trained runner was able to dictate from the front of the race and held off his stablemate, Franco Mac, in the run to the winning post. Republican Party, who did things tough over the concluding stages, was brave in third.
