On North American tracks it’s all about speed over a mile trip, in Australia it’s a mix of both standing start and mobile features across a range of track sizes, in New Zealand it could be about an extreme two-mile contest or a grass track race featuring non-race winners and in Europe the champion trotter is celebrated as a king of the track.
In Harnesslink Race Replays Of The Week we bring you a snapshot into the very best contests from around the harness racing tracks of the world.
Here’s our latest offering from the last seven days (week ended 24th January)
NORTH AMERICAN FEATURE RACE
Saturday the 22nd of January 2022 proved to be a milestone night for Kurt Sugg with the reinsman bringing up his 5000th winner while driving at Northfield Park. The telling win coming aboard Blue Speech in the sixth race on the card. Watch as #5000 becomes a reality!
AUSTRALIAN FEATURE RACE
The rich $300,000 Fremantle Cup took place last weekend at Gloucester Park with Amanda Rando covering the feature for Harnesslink. It proved a memorable night for the stable of Greg and Skye Bond as their pair of star pacers made the quinella. Watch the replay as Patronus Star makes great strides down the outer.. but can he get there in time?
NEW ZEALAND FEATURE RACE
Alexandra Park played host to the first two-year-old race of the year on Friday night and it proved to be a first for sire Vincent as Seve mastered race rivals late to become the first New Zealand winner for the sire. With plenty of support from breeders so far it’ll be interesting to see just how many progressive types the sire can get to the track.
EUROPEAN FEATURE
It’s the richest monte race catch the Prix De Cornulier courtesy of LeTrot here from Vincennes. These races are run at real pace as opposed to some of the more sedate monte features from other parts of the world!
Harnesslink will be back with more Race Replays of the Week next week.
