On North American harness racing tracks it’s all about speed over a mile trip, in Australia it’s a mix of both standing start and mobile features across a range of track sizes, in New Zealand it could be about an extreme two-mile contest or a grass track race featuring non-race winners and in Europe the champion trotter is celebrated as a king of the track.
In Harnesslink Race Replays of the Week we bring you a snapshot into the very best contests from around the harness racing tracks of the world.
CANADIAN REPLAY
Nicholas Barnsdale covered Gold Series racing out of Woodbine Mohawk Park last Monday with Monalishi impressing with a strong showing in the two-year-old trotting fillies’ event on the card. James MacDonald handled the mare who saw of a late challenge from Lil Sweet in the frantic trot to the line. Monalishi won the Peaceful Way and Champlain earlier this season and moves to six-for-nine with the win.
NEW ZEALAND REPLAY
Marketplace is one of the new stars of the track and on Thursday he, once again, showed why he’s an excitement machine. Bruce Stewart covered his amazing victory in heat 4 of the Woodlands Stud Sires’ Stakes Series which saw the Regan Todd trained runner descend on his race rivals with his customary late dash – and what a turn of hoof the horse has! The undeniable ability was too much for Tact Teva and Rubira who had enjoyed runs on the speed through much of the race. The win cements Marketplace as one of the leading hopes for the series.

AUSTRALIAN REPLAY
It’s the Arggghhh moment that’s been in pipeline for some time. Terry Gange covered a Wagga win that was a long time coming for David Miles on Friday when the son of Rock N Roll Heaven took out the Ferella and Sons Plumbing Pace. The story behind the win stems from a trip to the same track some 21 years ago – with that sojourn also ending in a victory salute! Arggghhh scored after showing some speed over the concluding stages, winning by a short half-head over Emmas Boy and Skittle Bomb
