On North American harness racing tracks it’s all about speed over a mile trip, in Australia it’s a mix of both standing start and mobile features across a range of track sizes, in New Zealand it could be about an extreme two-mile contest or a grass track race featuring non-race winners and in Europe the champion trotter is celebrated as a king of the track.
In Harnesslink Race Replays of the Week we bring you a snapshot into the very best contests from around the harness racing tracks of the world.
NEW ZEALAND REPLAYS
The biggest week of the year in New Zealand harness racing took place last week with Brad Reid and Bruce Stewart reporting on feature events throughout the major two days of racing. The New Zealand Trotting Cup, actually a pacing event, took place alongside the Dominion Handicap feature for trotters on Tuesday with Australian visitors proving too strong for the local Kiwi hopes in both feature events.
Here we take a look into those features with Swayzee capturing his second title after a memorable victory last year and Just Believe, the Australian trotting star, taking away the Dominion title.
Australian raider Swayzee added another NZ Trotting Cup title to the one he won last year.
Australian trotting sensation Just Believe scores a Memorable Dominion Handicap victory.
CANADIAN REPLAY
Nicholas Barnsdale reported on the star trotter Amigo Volo and another victory last week. The amazing performer making it another Preferred win on Monday. A mid-race move to the front of the field meant he was always going to be hard to get past, and so it proved, the 1.52.4 enough to see off race rivals in the run to the line.
AUSTRALIAN REPLAY
Tony Milanese reported on the South Australian Oaks on Saturday with the impressive Showsomejoy making it another feature victory after tasting Vicbred success in September. Elusive and Quick Dip filled the top three positions. Watch the action below.
