Entries for NZB Standardbred’s 2023 National Yearling Sale are open with the harness racing sale taking place next summer in Auckland on Sunday 19 February and Christchurch from Monday 20 to Wednesday 22 February.

We know that buyers and trainers, both domestically and globally, love our New Zealand-bred and reared product, and are willing to travel to us to source their next racetrack star. This is where NZB Standardbred needs your support to build the best catalogue possible, packed with the quality performers that kiwi breeders are known for producing year after year.
Here are a few reasons you should sell your yearlings at our National Standardbred Yearling Sale:
- The 2022 National Yearling Sale aggregate of $14,753,000 was an NZB Standardbred sale record and an increase of $1.4 million on last year’s figure, despite the sale operating as a closed event
- The 2022 edition saw thirty-two yearlings purchased for an amount of $100,000 or more
- NZB Standardbred has seen a sustained increase in average and median year on year, with 2022’s median of $38,750 up 29% on 2021’s median
- The demand for New Zealand stock continues to soar off the back of outstanding racetrack results, equipping our marketing team with plenty of firepower and a comprehensive toolkit of statistics – with the oldest just four years of age, NZB Standardbred graduates claimed 17 Group One wins and 25 stakes wins in the 2020-21 season
Nominations for the Sale are open now and close at 5PM on Friday 29 July 2022. To enter, visit NZB Standardbred’s online portal at standardbred.portal.nzb.co.nz. For enquiries, contact Grant Inglis (+64 3 260 3424 or email grant.inglis@nzb.co.nz). Should you need them, NZB Standardbred has put together full instructions on how to use the online portal click here.
While we have seen our buyers easily participate and purchase in user-friendly online bidding over the last two years, nothing beats having clients physically back on the grounds at Karaka and Canterbury Agricultural Park. We anticipate their arrival and are looking forward to achieving the best results possible for your yearlings
