A horse foaled in New York State in 1985 had a massive influence on the harness racing Winners Circle at last Saturday nights Breeders Crown Finals at Melton.
That horse Matts Scooter, the fastest horse in the World of his era, sired another freaky fast and talented horse in Mach Three and it is now through his fastest and best son in Somebeachsomewhere that a new Siring Dynasty is taking over the Pacing World.
Matts Scooter winning the 1988 Meadowlands Pace
The Somebeachsomewhere domination was on display for all to see at Melton with five of the six Pacing winners being sired by either Somebeachsomewhere himself or his son Captaintreacherous.
Then perhaps the finest performance of the night was saved for Race 7 when the diminutive filly Ladies In Red, by Mach Three, displayed ability so rare that she must surely be ranked as the best filly sired by Mach Three anywhere in the world.
In North America this season the Two Year Old Sires List is dominated by the sons of Somebeachsomewhere with four of the top seven positions held by his sons.
So there is no doubt that Somebeachsomewhere is fast becoming the breed changing stallion of the 2020ās. This is all happening despite the fact that sadly Somebeachsomewhere departed our World prior to his thirteenth birthday.
The one son of Somebeachsomewhere that stands out like a shining beacon amongst those bred in Australia is the ā Hollywood ā handsome Poster Boy.
An amazing race career for his owners, Lauriston Bloodstock, that saw him notch 22 victories in just 30 lifetime starts preceded a start to a new career in 2020.
Retired perfectly sound to Llowalong Farms he covered 120 plus mares in his debut season. He is proving even more popular this season with now around 140 mares Booked to him.
Poster Boy ticks every box you like to see in a stallion;
Smooth and Fluent gait .
High speed from day one ā he was race timed in 1.54 in his very first start as a 2 year old.
A son of an Australian Broodmare of the Year who in turn is by the Worldās greatest Broodmare Sire Artsplace.
So with the 150 mare Limit in Australia there is some urgency in making your Booking if you wish to jump aboard the Somebeachsomewhere juggernaut.
Fresh chilled Semen is also available in New Zealand.
