Addington preview – 1st April

Addington Raceway runs with a great looking card of harness racing action on Friday night with two feature races being supported by strong stakes and deep fields throughout the night.

Here we take a look at the feature pace and trot of the night.

The Lamb & Hayward Trotters Classic at Group 3 level is set to run at 7.45pm and has attracted a strong field of open class trotters. Leading the field is the brilliant Sundees Son who recently become a trotting millionaire – he’s trotting like one too with a strong win over stablemate Mataderos on the 18th of March.

He’ll face a stern test in this when you consider the presence of both Bolt For Brilliance (who won this race last year) and the talented standing start exponent Mataderos. Midnight Dash, who was caught off the speed a little last week, should be respected, along with the Craig and Aimee Edmonds trained Five Wise Men, who is set to receive a cold sit throughout the running given his #1 draw.

It’s a small, strong field.

Race 7 on the program is the Fahey Fence Hire Free-For-All at Group 3 level with the resurgent Bettor Twist coming up tote favourite. The nature of her victory when last produced was most impressive and the #6 draw could provide driver Natalie Rasmussen another opportunity to forge forward and look to dictate terms once again.

There’s plenty of gate-speed in this front line though with Cranbourne, One Change, and Classie Brigade all potentially attending the gate-speed party early – and that’s leaving out the impressive Alta Wiseguy!

The southern star Pembrook Playboy and the Robert Dunn trained Henry Hubert fill up the second row and could be seen late with the speed on while Sugar Me and Shan Noble will operate from inside front-line draws. This is a deep field that looks set to provide plenty of talking points post-race.

Other interest points on the night are the Steve and Amanda Telfer trained Darling Me who is going for a treble of back-to-back wins (race 5) and the emergence of the Phil Burrows trained Rakero Storm (race 4) who has impressed at trials.

Full fields for the meeting can be viewed here.
