Akuta (Bettor’s Delight) has been the big harness racing mover in the latest IRT New Zealand Cup rankings.
The star three-year-old made it nine wins from just 12 starts when he overhauled Alta Wiseguy to win the Group 3 Hannon Memorial at Oamaru on Sunday (Sep. 18).
On the back of that triumph he has gone to 10th in the latest rankings, that’s 10 places higher than the initial list last week.
On the TAB futures market Akuta is currently rated as the $4 second favourite for the IRT New Zealand Cup at Addington on Tuesday, Nov. 8. All Stars stablemate and 2020 New Zealand Cup champion Self Assured is the top pick at $3, with defending champion Copy That third at $8.50.
The top five rankings remain the same, while Australian star Lochinvar Art, who was rated sixth, has been withdrawn after running sixth in the Gammalite Free-for-all, won by Copy That, at Melton on Saturday night.
Lochinvar Art was found to have had a minor bleed and has since been stood down for 28 days.
His withdrawal has seen a minor reshuffle in the top 10.
Southern pacer Macandrew Aviator has also made a significant move to making the Cup field, going up seven places to 26th after his fourth-place finish in the Hannon.
In the Renwick Farms Dominion Enghien has moved up four places, from 12th to eighth, after his win at Addington on Friday night. The rest of the rankings have remained largely unchanged since the initial rankings last week.
