All You Need Is Me (Captaintreacherous) trained by Cran and Chrissie Dalgety and driven by Carter Dalgety, continued the great harness racing legacy the Dalgety family has with the Ladyship Stakes.

Carter’s grandfather Jim won the race as a trainer with Lucy Lumber in 1984 and as an owner with Happy Hazel in 1989 while All You Need Is Me’s mother Adore Me won the race in 2012.
Tonight’s race wasn’t without drama with All You Need Is Me appearing to jump a shadow or some water on the track with 1400 metres to run. After that it was all plain sailing with the filly going down to win by three and three quarter lengths from Duchess Megxit and Ruby Roe half a head back in third.
“All we can put it down to is that she jumped a puddle. She made a miraculous recovery. Normally when you do that at top speed you don’t recover,” Cran said.
The winning time was 2-42.0 on a slushy track.
ALL YOU NEED IS ME REPLAY
It’s expected that most runners in tonight’s Group Two will head to next Friday’s $110,000 Group One Northern Oaks which will be raced over 2700 metres.
“It’s going to suit her because she’s got so much stamina.”
Owned by Charlie Roberts Limited, All You Need Is Me is out of $1.6 million earner Adore Me which won the Northern Oaks by seven lengths in 2013.
“I was just lucky enough that the family have given me the opportunity to have a go with her. Our families goes back a wee bit with Dad having Scuse Me (second dam of All You Need Is Me),” Cran said.
He added that early on All You Need Is Me didn’t show a lot of potential and after seven trials, the stable decided to debut her at Nelson.
“She’s a very casual laid back trainer (All You Need Is Me) so we thought we’d give her a trip away to try and liven her up. On the first day she won well but got a sweet trip. At her second start she went okay again. After her first three wins I thought that she was half okay and she’s just gone on leaps and bounds after that.”
When All You Need Is Me returns south, she’ll possibly target another heat of the Macca Lodge/Nevele R Southern Oaks and the $60,000 Group Two Southern Oaks Final which will be held on Diamonds Day at Ascot Park, Sunday 21st April.
“It’s about timing and if we can be there we will.”
