Back to back wins for Emma’s Boy

Emma’s Boy (Terror To Love) made it back-to-back harness racing wins at Addington Raceway on Friday (Jul. 8) when taking out the Connetics Mobile Pace (2600m).

The five-year-old gelding was handled patiently throughout by Tim Williams, sitting midfield before he was sent four-wide turning for home and showed grit and determination to see off Loyalist to win by a neck.

The gelding was victorious at the track last week over 1980m and trainer Ivan Court was confident of another bold showing from his gelding.

“I thought he was good enough to win again,” Court said.

“He is not a bad horse, but he has been unlucky in his previous runs.”

EMMA’S BOY REPLAY

Court said he will likely give Emma’s Boy one more run before sending him to the spelling paddock in preparation for late spring targets.

“There is a final at the end of the month that he is eligible for, so he will probably head to that before I put him out for a little spell,” Court said.

“I would like to race him over Cup time, so I will probably give him a month or so out.”

Earlier in the night Court nearly tasted victory again courtesy of Bondi Lustre in the Fahey Fence Hire Mobile Pace (2600m), however, his celebrations were curtailed by Beach Hopper (Somebeachsomewhere), who beat his charge by a half head.

“My brother (trainer Graham Court) beat me out,” Court said.

It was the second consecutive runner-up result for the Sunshine Beach mare who continues to impress Court as she matures.

“It was good to see her run another place,” he said.

“She is not quite good enough to go through the grades yet, so it was good to get the placing.”

Court believes there is plenty instore for the mare he bred and owns.

“She is out of a pretty good breed,” he said. “Her mother is a half to Velor Lustre – a black-type mare who won nine races.”
