Latrell is making waves in South Sydney – and it’s not just the league player.
Young Canterbury harness racing driver Ben Hope bred and races a two-year-old trotter named after the Rabbitohs and New South Wales superstar, Latrell Mitchell. The Dream Vacation gelding has had two public hit-outs for a win and a third and is now being spelled ahead of a raceday debut in the summer.
And the horse called Latrell has come to the attention of those at Rabbitohs’ HQ at Redfern.
This week Hope was featured on Rabbitohs TV where he was interviewed about Latrell the horse, his own career and his love of rugby league, and especially the Rabbitohs.
It was part of a big week for Hope. He turned 22 on Wednesday, and right now is in the middle of the New Zealand Junior Drivers Championship that started at Addington last night and concludes on Sunday.
He also gave his new found Aussie friends a top tip for last night – Markham Eyre, who duly delivered in the last, paying $6.40 and $1.90.
