The David and Stacey White trained trotter Bet N Win (What The Hill) is making good progress as he prepares for the $400,000 Group One Renwick Farms Dominion Handicap on harness racing’s big day, Cup Day at Addington.
“He’s trotting good and he’s on track to go to the trials on the 2nd October. All going well he’ll start in the Canterbury Park Trotting Cup (11th October),” David said.

The four year old looked smart in progressing through the grades in NZ before he was taken to Brisbane and he made a big statement when he won his Australian debut by 2.5 metres at Albion Park in the Listed The Stellar Square. On the back of that win he was made favourite for the $150,000 G1 Great Square at Albion Park. But an untimely hoof abscess put a stop to his campaign.
“He had a couple of weeks off with the sun on his back in Brisbane and he had another week once he got back here. The injury seems good at the moment. We’ve still got flip flops to help manage his feet but by Cup Week we’ll have him back in his normal shoes.”

Prior to heading to Australia, Bet N Win won four straight, including the Listed Sires’ Stakes Aged Classic at Addington and the Uncut Gems Trotters Classic at the same venue.
Bet N Win is currently inside the top ten four year olds and older trotters in this country. The rankings for the Dominion which will include Australian entries, are expected to be released this week.
“It’ll be interesting to see where he’s at in the initial rankings. Hopefully we’re in the top fifteen to take a bit of pressure off us. If not, I think he should earn his way into it through the Canterbury Park Cup or Ashburton. There are a lot of nice horses nominated and having a few Aussies is good for the race.”
Regular driver Bob Butt has had a number of drives in the Dominion, finishing second in 2017 driving The Foot Tapper and third last year on Resolve.
