Harness racing driver Brent Mangos was back at his brilliant best tonight when he nabbed the front early with the Mark Purdon and Hayden Cullen trained Bettor Twist, and rated her perfectly to win the Gr1 $94,750 Queen Of Hearts at Alexandra Park.
Once in front all that was required was a quick sprint home from the Bettor’s Delight filly and the opposition had little chance of catching her. She duly obliged, running home in 55.6 seconds for the final 800m and beating the trailing horse Need You Now by a length, with a further length back to The Honey Queen in third.
Brent Mangos has now won the Queen Of Hearts four times including twice with his good mare Bettor Cover Lover.
Earlier in the night Hot And Treacherous (Captaintreacherous) took out the Gr3 Thames Summer Cup in the hands of driver Maurice McKendry.
Hot And Treacherous also led all the way and sprinted a very quick 800m of 55 seconds to beat Southern visitor Franco Niven by a length.
