Confederate (Bettor’s Delight) has been sold and will race in America.
He was purchased as a yearling for $240,000 at the NZB Standardbred Sales and was raced for a group of owners that included Katrina Purdon, Dean Shannon and his breeders John and Katrina Price.
Trained by Barry Purdon and Scott Phelan, over two seasons of racing, Confederate won five and was placed a further nine times. He earned stakes of $100,272.
The Whatever Syndicate who successfully raced Franco Ledger are back in business after having a win with Side Hustle at Invercargill last Wednesday.

Trained by Brett Gray, the Always B Miki two year old narrowly beat Off The Canvas by a nose.
Side Hustle was bought by the syndicate at the 2024 NZB Standardbred Yearling Sales in Christchurch for $55,000. He’s out of the ten win Bettor’s Delight mare The Fascinator.
It was also a winning day for What Ever syndicate member Brendan McIntyre who part owns Justaweesip, the winner of the following race.

The Rock N Roll Heaven two year old filly is trained by McIntyre’s brother-in-law who also shares in the ownership.
Classy open class pacer Don’t Stop Dreaming (Bettor’s Delight) has been sold to America.
As a yearling he was purchased by the All Stars Stables for $250,000 and on the track he won 18 races, earning $1.3 million.

He won four G1 races in New Zealand – the Sires’ Stakes for Two Year Old Colts and Geldings, the Ace Of Spades, the Sires’ Stakes for Three Year Old Colts and Geldings and the Flying Stakes.
He also won four races in Australia and ran second to Leap To Fame in the 2024 Hunter Cup.
He finished in second place in The Race By Grins, the New Zealand Cup, Taylor Mile, the New Zealand Pacing Derby and the $258,750 Harness Million.
In New Zealand he won seven races for Mark and Nathan Purdon, six races for Mark and Hayden Cullen and one for Hayden and Amanda Cullen.
The catalogue for the 2026 NZB Standardbred Yearling Sales at Karaka and Christchurch is now out.
The biggest vendor at Karaka will be Breckon Farms with 36 yearlings being offered – sixteen colts and 20 fillies. Woodlands Stud has 32 yearlings entered in the Karaka Sales of which 28 are colts.
In Christchurch, Laura Smith is the biggest vendor with 25 lots. Studholme Bloodstock will have eighteen yearlings going under the hammer.
Australian based Yabby Dam Farms has 11 trotting yearlings entered across both venues, including a colt and two fillies by the all-conquering Walner.
On the stallion front, Downbytheseaside will have the largest representation with 40 yearlings being offered across both Sales.
Quality Southland squaregaiter Fiery Bandito (Majestic Son) has been transferred to Bob Butt’s Woodend Beach stable.

From just twenty one starts the six year old has won seven races for southern trainer Kirstin Green.
He last raced at Addington in the New Zealand Trotting Free for All, finishing nineth.
