In the next few years we expect to see more international bloodlines coming thought the NZB Standardbred Yearling Sales as breeders buy into top American and Australian stock.
Mason Bloodstock is one of the breeders driving this new phase and to start their quest for excellence they’re offering two colts with impeccable pedigrees at the Karaka Sales in February 2026.
One colt is out of Rodeo Beach, a race winning Somebeachsomewhere mare who is a full-sister to $1.7 million pacer and successful sire Huntsville, while the other is out of Virginontherocks, (Always A Virgin – Artstopper) making her a full sister to Always B Miki.

“This is an opportunity of a lifetime for buyers looking for an incredibly deep pedigree where the winners have continued generation after generation,” Trent Mason said.
Two of Artstopper’s foals are millionaire pacers while the pedigree page has three $500,000 plus earners and a host of $100,000 pacers.
When you go back four generation on the Rodeo Beach colt’s pedigree page you’ll find a millionaire pacer in Huntsville ($1.7 million) and four $500,000 plus pacers. So the good blood runs deep.
Mason says the colts also offer their buyers a chance to go to the next level – the breeding barn.
“Nothing is ever guaranteed when buying a horse, however should one of these colts reach the elite heights, they have the pedigree to absolutely be presented as a stallion beyond their racing career.”
Both colts are enjoying their stunning surroundings and will be prepared for the Sales by Jamie Bartlett.
Mason says the feedback has been very positive and NZB Standardbred Manager Cam Bray is impressed by what he’s seen.
“Even though both colts were born in Auckland out of season – the Rodeo Beach colt in February and the Virginontherocks colt in April, Cam believes it won’t matter because they’re both real good sized animals, especially the Virginontherocks colt.”
He added that come Sales time buyers won’t notice any difference between his colts and those born during the conventional birth dates.
“When the time comes in February these colts will definitely be worth the inspection.”
