The four-year-old mare has won her last four races, but trainer Matthew Williamson is wary of the step-up in class at Addington this week.
āShe has been going awesome, I have been very proud of her,ā Williamson said. āShe has come a long way in a short time and each win has been a little better than the last.
āI was going to turn her out and then I thought while she is in good form I would give her one go at the big smoke.
āI have thrown her in the deep end this week, but if she is running on, I will be happy.ā
Prior to last month the daughter of American Ideal was struggling to find form and Williamson believes she has strengthened a lot in the last few months.
āShe has probably just got a bit stronger. She is quite a big mare and it has just taken her a bit of time to strengthen, she is definitely racing stronger,ā he said.
Friday will be a good indicator of where Boarding Callās future lies, with the four-year-old inline for a break and possible career change.
āIt will just depend on how she acquits herself this week whether she is up to carrying on, send her for a spell or even the broodmare paddock,ā Williamson said.
Williamson will also partner Zealous Spur in the Spectators – $15 Daily Deals Handicap Trot (2600m) and Helen of Troy in the Harcourts Grenadier Beckenham Mobile Pace (1980m) for trainer Darryn Simpson.
āZealous Spur has been going alright races. He generally has good manners so I would imagine he is a small eachway chance,ā Williamson said.
āHelen of Troy is a bit the same. She is a handy maiden, but she strikes a good maiden field. If she gets a bit of luck, she could be right there too.ā
Williamson currently sits on 97 driving wins for the season and he is hoping for a bit of luck this weekend to edge him closer to the century mark.
āIt has been a really good season, so hopefully I can get there (100 driving wins),ā he said.
