Captain Tom (Captaintreacherous) is making good progress for his return to harness racing with the Sires Stakes and Supremacy Stakes still very much on the agenda.
The three year old trained by Alister Black has won three of his five starts but he finished last at Addington on 10th February when driver Nathan Williamson reported that the gelding wasnāt travelling well and hung inwards rounding the last bend.
Whilst a subsequent vet examination didnāt reveal any major problem the horse was given a short freshener by Black.
āHeās coming along nicely and is going to go to the workouts on Friday where heāll have a quiet run. Iāll probably give him another one (workout) the following week and thereās a heat of the Garrardās Sires Stakes at Addington on 8th April for him in preparation for the Supremacy.ā
The Group Two $45,000 Alabar Southern Supremacy Stakes Final is on Diamonds Day, Sunday 23rd April at Ascot Park.
āHeās done plenty of work at home and seems bright and happy. Itās not going to be easy but thereās only one way to find out if youāre good enough and thatās to front up.ā
Thereās also another heat of the Sires Stakes at Addington on the 5th May with the Group One Final a week later.Ā
