Few mares arrive on the open market with a résumé like Carla’s Pixel (Courage Under Fire – Pixel Perfect by Art Major). A Group 1 winning daughter of one of Australasia’s most decorated modern harness racing broodmares, she combines elite racetrack performance with one of the most consistently firing maternal families in the Stud Book.

This mare and her Capt Midnight weanling filly are being offered separately by the owner Ola Yoder of Kountry Lane Standardbreds in North America, who is dispersing all of his horses in Australia.

Carla’s Pixel

Trained by Luke McCarthy, Carla’s Pixel was crowned Australian 4YO+ Mare Pacer of the Year in 2018 after a stellar campaign that included victories in the NSW Ladyship MileNSW Robin Dundee Mares Bonus IIQld Fleur de Lil, and the Vic My Lightning Blue FFA. She also won the Vic Ladyship Cup (2019) and placed in Breeders Crown and mares’ features across multiple states.

From 60 starts she recorded 19 wins, 17 placings, and $480,128 in stakes, taking a personal best of 1:49.5—at the time one of the fastest ever recorded by an Australasian-bred mare.

Carla’s Pixel hails from the remarkable broodmare Pixel Perfect (Art Major), crowned 2018 Australian Broodmare of the Year. Pixel Perfect is the dam of:

  • Soho Tribeca (American Ideal) – $1,103,854, multiple Group 1 winner including the Golden Nugget and Vicbred Super Series, now a stallion.

Carla’s Pixel has made a promising start to her broodmare career:

  • First foal (Captaintreacherous colt) – sold for $270,000 to leading trainer Nathan Jack’s father, Russell Jack who is extremely happy with the horse. Now a three-year-old, he is shown real ability, pacing a half in 55 and expected to be racing shortly.
  • Second foal (Bettor’s Delight filly) – now a two-year-old, already race-placed from a handful of starts with a strong fourth last start.
  • Third foal (weanling by Capt Midnight) – being offered in the current Gavelhouse Standardbred auction.
  • Currently in foal to Captaintreacherous, the champion sire and most commercial sire throughout the breeding industry.
