Chase A Dream switches stables

One of New Zealand’s best yet most enigmatic pacers has changed camps.

Chase A Dream (Captaintreacherous) has joined the Canterbury harness racing stable of Robert and Jenna Dunn after being transferred by long-time co-trainer and owner Mark Purdon.

Chase A Dream has been on a form rollercoaster for much of the last year but at his best won a Waikato Flying Mile and was the first New Zealand-trained pacer home behind Leap To Fame in the Race by betcha at Cambridge in April.

Given a long spell over winter he looked to be getting back to something like his best when fourth to Kingman in the Christian Cullen at Addington last Friday but Purdon says a change may do the four-year-old some good.

“I thought that time out at the beach may help and it made sense to leave him in the South for the Invercargill Cup,” says Purdon.

“But as long as he is racing well he could stay down there with Robert, Jenna and John.”

Purdon says both Akuta and Oscar Bonavena are back in the Waikato and being worked back up with the Alex Park meeting on December 12 their likely assignment.
