Harness racing trainer Robert Dunn has fond memories of the day thirty years ago, when he trained and drove Master Musician to win the New Zealand Pacing Derby.
On Sunday at Addington Robert and training partner Jenna will have four starters in the $250,000 G1 Garrards sponsored pacing feature.
Charlie Brown (Art Major) gets the best draw of the four at barrier three.
Favourites Merlin (Art Major) and Don’t Stop Dreaming (Bettor’s Delight) draw four and six respectively with the second Dunn runner Triple G (Downbytheseaside) drawing on the outside of them at seven.
Dalton Shard (Always B Miki) trained by Robert and Jenna comes up with a second row draw and follows out Sooner The Better (Bettor’s Delight).
Completing the Dunn Derby runners is Who’s Bettor (Bettor’s Delight). He also comes up with a second row draw and follows out stablemate Charlie Brown.
Robert says his son Johnny who supervises the team is happy with all four Derby contenders.
The Derby is one of eight Group One races on the card and will be run at 4-29pm and screened on the Trackside One channel.
