It has been announced in Sweden and confirmed that four-time Dan Patch Driver of the Year and harness racing World Driving Champion, Dexter Dunn, will be competing in the upcoming Elitloppet in Stockholm, Sweden on Sunday, May 28.
Dunn, born and raised in New Zealand, has been driving in the USA for the past four years and has established himself as hottest driver in North America. Last year, he earned $15.1 million in purses with the horses he has driven. Dunn was also the driver who drove Ecurie D when he set the world record in the United States last year.
Dunn is scheduled to drive Stolletheshow (Dream Vacation) in Elitloppet. Stolletheshow recently won the $240,000 Finlandia-ajo held at Vermo Racetrack in Finland on May 7 and that earned him a ticket to Elitloppet.
“We know what Dexter Dunn stands for,ā Said Stolletheshowās trainer Frode Hamre. āHe’s getting huge speed on the horses. I’m looking forward to seeing Stoletheshow with Dunn in the wagon in what looks to be the elite race of the century.”
Anders Malmrot, the head of theĀ harness racingĀ trotting races at Solvalla Racecourse in Sweden stated. āIt feels damn funny, and he will be a rugged spice over the weekend. He comes here already on Saturday and hopefully gets the chance to compete in the Sweden Cup too. It tickles a little extra that we will get to see him and his driving style here. Heās the best over there in the US and itāll be extra fun that he comes here since heās never been here before. I talked to him recently and he is excited to come here.ā
In other Elitloppet news, Australian trotting champion, Just Believe, arrived in Holland in excellent shape as he will also be competing in Elitloppet.
