Muscle Mountain a gelded son of Muscle Hill has taken out the Group Three Coca Cola Summer Trotting Free For All at Addington Raceway tonight in the hands of harness racing driver Ben Hope.
Driven straight to the front off the mobile start, Muscle Mountain led all the way and comfortably beat stablemate Midnight Dash by a little more than a length at the line with plenty of petrol left in the tank.
“It was a good run for him. It was his first start back and I didn’t want him to have too hard a run,” driver Ben Hope said after the race.
“He absolutely jogged that and like he could have won by ten lengths if I had asked him and he certainly did that well within himself,” Hope said.
A couple of races later the Robert and Jenna Dunn trained Need You Now (Bettor’s Delight) grabbed a deserved victory in the $50,000 Group Three Garrards Premier Mares Championship.
In the hands of regular driver John Dunn, Need You Now rated 1-55.1 over the mobile 1980m event winning by a neck over a fast finishing Allamericanlover and driver Tim Williams, with North Island visitor Belle Of Montana running into third.
