Ascot Park harness racing trainer Jeremy Douglas is looking to keep his winning momentum going when he lines up five runners on his home track on Wednesday (Nov 23).
Douglas has won ādoublesā at the last two Winton meetings with Minnie McGoogan, Macandrew Navigator, Miki Knows and Westar Lad.
Out of form Boot Scootin Boogie (Heston Blue Chip) starts Douglasās day in Race Three. She was formerly trained by Matty Williamson.
āMatty sent her down because she always worked well at home but by the time sheād travelled to the races sheād worked herself up and didnāt go that well. The thinking is to train and race her here and she might put her best foot forward. On her work youād expect her to be right in it but in saying that her race day form hasnāt matched her work at home,ā Douglas said.
The well-bred Always B There (Always B Miki) whoās a brother to Storm Light (8) and Lamborne Road (5) draws gate six in Race Four.
āHeās a way better horse than what his form reads. He should have won his last start but too much spring grass caught me out much the same as it did with Macandrew Navigator on the same day. I expect him to be really hard to beat.āĀ Ā
Last start winner Macandrew Navigator (Sir Lincoln) starts in Race Seven.
āI think heās a nice horse in the making but itās not going to happen overnight. I think heāll be in amongst the prizes but Joes Rock maybe a bit sharp for him, but it wonāt surprise me if he still won.ā
Magic Sign (Terror To Love) ran a tidy third at his last start and gets a second line draw in Race Eight.
āHe always gets a second row draw but itās where he goes his best races from. Blairās (Orange) back on, so heāll find his way round as some point. I expect him to be running on.ā
Douglasās final runner Westar Lad (Changeover) won first up for the stable at Winton and gets a good draw at three in Race Nine.Ā Ā
āI was really impressed with the way he won his last start. They went 2-56 and he hit the line really nicely and well within himself. Itās a step up in grade but from a good draw I think heāll give a good account of himself.ā
