Down Under Winners with Carter Dalgety

Down Under Pacer making strong impression in North American harness racing career.

Down Under pacer Sonny Weaver N won a competitive $30,000 Pace on Friday night at Hoosier Park in Indiana. The 5yo gelding had top reinsman Tim Tetrick in the bike who bought him back off the arm from post six, settling last off what was a sizzling first quarter of 25.4.

Tetrick elected to sit there until just after the half which was reached in 54.0 when the pair inched closer, but turning into the long Hoosier Park stretch they were still a long way off leaders. The son of Sunshine Beach then showed a dazzling sprint to storm past the leaders to win, running his last quarter in a hot 26.1 and clocking the mile in 1:49.2.

The Jeff Cullipher trained runner has now clocked under 1:50.0 in multiple of his north American race starts, with his high speed taking him a long way. Sonny Weaver N was bred in New Zealand but carried out his down under racing career in Australia and finished in the top three in 24 of his 38 starts. Winning 12 of them and collecting over $130,000 in stake earnings.
