Down Under Winners from North America – 13th June

The NSW bred and owned Lochinvar Art (Modern Art) put an exclamation mark on his harness racing career when he captured the $US200,000 Battle of Lake Eerie at Northfield Park on Saturday (June 10). 

Tipped three deep at the three-quarters, the Modern Art entire quickly rounded up his rivals to score by 1-1.2 lengths in 1:50. Fellow NSW pacer Leonidas, who led, finished third.

The win pushed Lochinvar Art’s earnings to $US1,285,493. 

The New Zealand bred Duke Of Cornwall (Sweet Lou) posted the fastest mile of the day and a new lifetime best of 1:50 winning a $20,000 race at Plainridge Park on Thursday (June 8). 

On the same card, Patrickthepirnaha, a Western Australian bred son of Four Starzzz Shark, led for the last three-quarters to win in 1:51.8. 

Former Kiwi Raptor’s Flight (by Bettor’s Delight) made it five on the bounce at Meadowlands when he outsprinted his rivals in a leg of the Play Meadowlands Series on Saturday night. 

The nine-year-old won effortlessly by two lengths in 1:51.6, his eighth success from 20 starts for the year. He has now earned more than $US300,000. 

Our Lady Lara, a NSW bred daughter of Betterthancheddar, extended her winning streak at Saratoga Raceway to five when she led throughout in the $17,000 Fillies and Mares’ Open in a career-best 1:53.8 on Monday (June 5). 

The mare led home an Anzac trifecta with Racey Rach NZ second and Fond Memories third. 

Its Rock And Roll, a gelding by A Rocknroll Dance, outsprinted his rivals in the $20,000 Open in 1:52 at Harrington Raceway on Monday. 

Majorca, a NZ bred mare by Art Major, posted her fourth win for the year and her second straight at Harrington Raceway when she led from end-to-end in 1:53 in the $20,000 Mares’ Open on Tuesday (June 6). 

The Victorian bred entire Stars Align went wire-to-wire to capture the Open Handicap Pace in 1:53.4 at Northville Downs on Saturday night. It was the nine-year-old’s 45th win and pushed his earnings to $US623,292.
