Down Under Winners from North America – 24th December

Typhoon Banner, a New Zealand harness racing gelding by Bettor’s Delight, scored the most important win of his career in the inaugural $250,000 MGM Grand Prix Pacing Series final at Yonkers Raceway on Monday night (December 16).

Starting from the No. 5 gate, the eight-year-old speared straight to the top, handed up at the end of the first quarter and then divebombed his rivals in the home straight to win by three-quarters of a length. 

It was his 25th win and lifted his stake tally to $577,023. 

It’s Rock And Roll, a Western Australian bred son of A Rocknroll Dance, sat parked before winning the $27,500 Blue Hen Handicap at Dover Downs on Thursday night (December 19). He won by three-quarters of a length in 1:51.2. 

The 14 year-old Mach Three gelding Machtu led for the final three quarters and held on to win by a nose in the Auld Lang Syne farewell pace at Cumberland Raceway on Saturday (December 21).
