Down Under Winners from North America – 27th June

The Big Jim harness racing mare Sheikh Yabooty led in a New Zealand-bred trifecta when she took full advantage of a pocket trip to win the $17,000 Fillies and Mares’ Open in 1:54.2 at Saratoga Raceway on Monday (Jun 19). A Little Side Hustle and American Tour filled the placings behind her. 

SHEIKH YABOOTY REPLAY

Sandpiper, a NZ bred son of Somebeachsomewhere, extended his winning streak to four when he outsprinted his rivals in the $15,000 feature at Plainridge Park on Tuesday (June 20). The gelding won by a neck in 1:53.4. 

The Mach Three mare Liberty Rose NZ pushed her earnings to just shy of $US300,000 when she led all the way in 1:53.2 in a $12,500 race at The Meadows on Thursday (June 22). 

Two ‘down under’ 1:50 winners this week were I’m Sir Blake (by Alta Christiano), bred by Perth identity Robert Watson, who won in 1:49.8 at Oak Grove, and the George Timperley bred Mongolian Hero NZ (by Mach Three), who clocked 1:50 at Meadowlands.
