Down Under Winners from North America – 6th September

Brilliant Art Major harness racing mare Majorca NZ headed up a list of five ‘down under’ bred pacers to win in 1:50 or better in North America last week.

Majorca defeated the defending USA Horse of the Year Test Of Faith by two lengths in a $22,500 mares’ feature at Harrah’s Philadelphia in 1:49.5. It was her eighth success for the season and lifted her seasonal earnings to beyond $200,000.

Other 1:50 performers were the Australian-bred Tulhurst Santanna (1:49.6), Pat McGarry (1:49.8), No Win No Feed (1:50) and Lexus With A View (1:50).

She’s Pukka NZ took out a $20,000 Mares’ Open in 1:55 at Harrington Raceway, Delaware to bring up her fourth win for the season and over $114,000 in stakes, while Flying Finn NZ hoisted a fresh season’s mark of 1:53.6  leading most of the way in a $15,000 Open at Batavia Downs.
