Down Under Winners from North America – 7th February

Former Victorian Horse of the Year Lochinvar Art (Modern Art) made an auspicious harness racing debut at The Meadowlands on Saturday night (February 4), winning a $27,500 race in 1:50.2.

After reaching the lead at the three-quarters pole, the Modern Art seven-year-old stole a march on his rivals and then gamely held off the fast closing Burnham Boy NZ to score by a neck.

He has now won 29 of his 57 starts.

The Art Major mare Majorca NZ returned to the winning lists when she captured the $25,000 Mares Open Pace in 1:52.4 at Dover Downs, Delaware on Wednesday (February 1).

She led from outset, survived a late challenge and went on to score by a length.
