Down Under Winners with Carter Dalgety

Massive day for Down Under harness racing horses at Yonkers. 

Monday night at Yonkers raceway in New York was a complete down under demolition, consisting of 7 races being won by very high class down under pacers. 

Kicking it all off was pacing sensation and former New Zealand and Australian Grand Circuit horse of the year Christen Me N. The son of Christen Cullen looked sharp when being too fast for his field, pacing 1:52.1 in the $25,000 race. 

Funatthebeach N (Somebeachsomewhere) also ran a 1:52.1 mile for trainer and driver combination of Joe and Jennifer Bongiorno. The 7yo gelding took home a nice $34,000 in the process.

The tough pacer Robbie Burns N (Live Or Die) raced in a $30,000 Pace with Jason Bartlett in the race bike and speared out from the starting gates to lead the whole way to just hang on and beat another down under pacer in Change Stride N in 1:53.3. Just a few days later down under trainer Shane Tritton lined the son of Live Or Die back up to win again. This time in a $32,000 race, pacing 1:52.3. Making it two wins and $62,000 in one week for the 10yo.

The feature race of the night was next and brilliantly the result was a down under trifecta. Top class pacer Jacks Legend N (Bettor’s Delight) was the winner in a very slick 1:51.1 around the half mile (800m) track. He lead throughout for driver Matt Kakaley and so very closely held off a big challenge from the inform Shane Tritton trained Nandolo N. Those two were then clear of Alluneedisfaith N who ran in third placing. 

Joe and Jennifer Bongiorno made it a double on the night with Iammrbrightside N who swooped over them late to take home first prize and $32,000. This produce of Julius Caesar  was also on the quick back up and made it two wins in a week when winning again another $32,000 pace just a few days later. 

The preferred pace was taken out by the very in form On The Cards N (Bettor’s Delight) for trainer Ron Burke and driver George Brennan. Racing for $38,000, the hot favourite held out from pole position of one to lead the field throughout and cross the finishing line in the same fashion. He held off a tough San Domino A who came in second place. 

Wrapping up a super successful night was the talented Shoobee Doo A who obliterated his field by cruising home in 1:52.4. The smoking hot favourite was handled by driver Jordan Stratton in the $36,000 pace by finding the lead and making things look easy. Trainer Dylan Davis was another who had this 6yo on the quick race back up. This time in the open pace for $45,000 just 6 days later. The jump in grade was made to look easy as he won by an even bigger margin in a hot 1:51.2. A big win by the Shoobee’s Place gelding that makes him a force to be reckoned with in the bigger upcoming races. The two wins a week meant he won an impressive $81,000 for his weeks racing.
