Down Under winners with Carter Dalgety

Big day at the Meadowlands for exciting down under harness racing horses.

Five of down unders top race horses in North America right now were seen winning their races on Saturday night in New Jersey, all in very slick winning times.

It all started with Soho Chelsea A who destroyed her nine rivals in 1:50.4. The 9yo Mach Three mare who is trained by Travis Kolaczynski popped a pocket for driver Jeff Dauplaise and dashed clear to take the $10,000 pace.

Next up was top performing mare Major Occasion A who is trained by down under trainer Nifty Norman. In a very competitive race the Art Major mare found the top during the middle stages and found plenty in the stretch holding off challenges from another down under mare in Shes Nun Bettor N. Dashing home in 26.4 she completed the winning mile in 1:50.4.

Patrikthepiranha A was one of the big performances of the night for trainer Nik Drennan and driver Mark Macdonald. It was the 6yos American Harness racing debut run and he opened up in style. Settling moderately from the 2 hole the son of Four Starzz Shark got a perfect drag towards the leaders and was only pulled into clear air mid-way down the stretch and then hit the hobbles hard to sail on by leaders to win in a super time of 1:48.4. Exciting journey on the way for this down under pacer. 

Top performer Vettel N just got to the line in first in a tough finish. The Jennifer Bongiorno gelding came from off the pace to get over top of rivals in a race which they ran the last three quarters in 27. Making the final winning time 1:48.3.

Montefalco N wrapped up the night by going back to back for down under trainer Kelvin Harrison. The Shadow Play produce was handled well by driver Victor Kirby to upset the field of 10 runners in 1:50.1 and taking home $14,000.
