Down Under Winners with Carter Dalgety

Champion Down Under harness racing mare goes two for two in the United States. 

One of the best mares to ever leave New Zealand and Australian shores has won her second race start in America. 

Now trained by Linda Toscanno and driven by down under driver Todd McCarthy, Amazing Dream N is off to the perfect start. 

It was just her second American start so she holds a 100% win record in the northern hemisphere. 

Amazing Dream N first start in the US went exactly to plan. She drew wide and was settled comfortably in the pack by driver Todd McCarthy. But she was soon let slide around the field to find the top and set her own terms for the race. The class mare then did just what she had to when easily holding off all competitors to win her US racing debut in 1:51.2. A professional display.

She has since had her second start and that came on Saturday night at The Meadowlands in New Jersey. Starting from post position number 1, the daughter of Bettors Delight was crossed early in the race but later driver Todd McCarthy took the mare out and around to the front of the field and drove her to her strengths. Running to the half mile in 55.4 seconds, McCarthy then let Amazing Dream N slide to run the 3rd quarter in 27.3. Into the stretch it turned out to be a competitive finish between runners but the down under superstar did her best to win in 1:50.3. 

This exceptional mares CV needs no more introducing but with close to $1.5 million in stake earnings it is hard not to highlight it. In New Zealand she won 7 Group 1 races and in Australia she won 3 Group 1 races. Making that a total of a remarkable 10 Group 1 wins down under. Her most notable wins include the Great Northern Derby as a 3yo beating the boys, and the Auckland Cup. While also winning the first ever edition of the Rising Sun in Queensland, plus The Blacks A Fake, beating a remarkably high quality field.
