Down Under Winners with Carter Dalgety

Talented down under harness racing pacer too slick in Hollywood.

War Dan A went around at the races on Monday at Dayton Raceway in Ohio. The down under gelding is now being trained by Walter Haynes Jr and this week was driven by Tony Hall. He started from post position 6 and was lit up early in an action packed first furlong. Hall found the marker pegs first with the help of his blazing gate speed, but soon handed over the front to take nice trail and remained there. Leaving the back straight there was an option to leave the rail as pressure was applied by the parked horse but Tony Hall stuck to the marker pegs and took the passing lane when turning into the stretch.

Coming off a hot back straight quarter of 27.0, War Dan A popped off his trailing position to dig deep in the concluding stages and hit the line in an extremely close finish. The son of Bettors Delight came out best in the close finish, clocking 1:52.3 for his win.

This down under pacer is continued to be raced by his down under race owner Danny Zavitsanos while racing in America. During his down under racing career he was the winner of a Group 3 race and placed in a further five Group races and has now earnt well over $200,000.
