Down Under Winners with Carter Dalgety

The Western Australian bred harness racing gelding Patrickthepiranha (Mach Three) unleashed a brilliant late rally to win a thrilling $50,000 Bert Beckwith Memorial Final at Plainridge Park, Massachusetts on Monday (July 25).

Settling down in sixth position from the No 8 gate, the six-year-old was sent forward three-wide at the three-quarter mark and outstayed his rivals to win by a head in 1:51.4.

It was his sixth win for the year and pushed his lifetime bankroll to $354,651.

The seven-year-old Mach Three gelding Ocean Ridge NZ earned a new speed badge of 1:49.8 when he led throughout at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Wednesday (July 27).

Another son of Mach Three in Machiatto came from last to win the $12,000 Open at Tioga Downs, New York in a seasonal best 1:52. It was his sixth success this year and his 31^st lifetime.
