Down Under Winners with Carter Dalgety

Former Down Under big performer picks up first harness racing win for the season.

Sharp pacer Mitch Maguire N was in the winner’s circle on Wednesday when he won his fifth start of 2021 at Harrah’s Hoosier Park in Indiana. He scooted around the seven eighths of a mile race track (1400m) in 1:52.1.

The son of Sportswriter started from the wide ten gate and settled handy in the running line and then saw clear in the stretch, finishing too strong for his fellow race rivals, running home in 27.0 seconds.

Winning trainer was Jeff Culipher and in the race bike was Sam Widger. Mitch Maguire N who is now a 8yo was a Group 1 winner during his racing career in Australia. That win was in the 2yo Golden Slipper at Gloucester Park in 2016. Following that he went on to win both at Group 2 and Listed level amount other placings and has his earnings nearing $400,000.
