Harness racing colt Chase A Dream (Captaintreacherous) had to be good to win last nights $100,000 Group One Canprint Flying Stakes at Addington and he was too sharp for the classy field of three year olds.

Driver Blair Orange stayed out of the early rush but was left three wide before heading to the front with a lap to run.
“There were a few of them looking to hunt early and I didn’t want to burn too much. I just let them sort themselves out and crept forward quietly. I knew we had the horsepower and we weren’t going to get parked out by anyone,” Orange told FNL.
The pair got to the front and went on to win by a length and a quarter from It’s Tough.
CHASE A DREAM REPLAY
The winning time of 2-20.7 was just outside Copy That’s race record of 2-20.3.
“I gave him a wee tap on the tail at the top of the straight, he jumped on the bit and he put them away pretty good.”
Trained by Mark and Nathan Purdon, this was Chase A Dream’s tenth win and third Group One victory while it was the sixteenth Flying Stakes win for Mark. In a variety of training partnerships he’s now won thirteen of the last eighteen Flying Stakes.

Mark is now based in Matamata and is scaling down his involvement in the sport and Nathan is now running the Rolleston base.
“Hats off to Nathan, he’s done a great job. The team is racing really well. He’s going to be one of our better trainers in years to come, that’s for sure.”
