Branxholme harness racing trainer Nathan Williamson has confirmed plans for his three year old star pacer Dream Are Free (Captaintreacherous).
All going to plan the talented three year old will start in a heat of the Alabar Southern Supremacy Stakes at Oamaru on 6th March, then head to Auckland for a heat of the Sires Stakes in Auckland on the 15th March before tackling the Northern Derby at Alexandra Park on 22nd March.
Then heāll head home for the Southern Supremacy Stakes Final at Ascot Park on 21st April.
Williamson also plans to take Ruby Roe (Captaintreacherous) and Flying Ellie (Art Major) for the $70,000 G2 Caduceus Club Three Year Old Ladyship Stakes and all going well, a tilt at the $110,000 G1 Northern Oaks a week later.
āTheyāll probably got to Oamaru for a Southern Oaks Heat. When they start at Oamaru theyāll be qualified for the final by having two starts. If Ruby Roe happens to win at Oamaru sheāll be ineligible to run in any other heat. Itās not a bad problem to have. When they all come back thereāll be other heats of the Oaks and Supremacy to target.ā
Meanwhile Miraculous (Bettorās Delight) who raced below par in his heat of the Supremacy finishing fourth, and five and a half lengths from the winner Built For Glory, was found to have been suffering from a virus.
āHe never felt like his normal self. We had blood tests done on-course by Brendon Bell and the horse was suffering from a virus. There was no sign of it with no nasal discharge or coughing. It was very hard to pinpoint and his work had been super leading into the event. Heās having treatment and ten days to freshen.ā
Williamson says Miraculous will still be aimed at the Southern Supremacy Series.
The stable qualified two two year olds yesterday at Winton – Always Dreaming (Bettorās Delight) and Captains Mistress (Captaintreacherous).
āAlways Dreaming will race on the 1st March (Invercargill). Captains Mistress has had a couple of hard trials so Iām still to decide whether weāll run her on the 1st March and then the Caduceus Club of Southland/Alabar Fillies Classic. We think quite a lot of her so a wee freshen up now might be a better plan.ā
