Consistent Ken Barron trained trotter Cochy Malc got a well deserved win tonight when he won the feature harness racing trot at Addington Raceway.
The 5yo Dream Vacation gelding was well driven by premiership winning driver Blair Orange, who navigated a great spot in the race just behind the leader, on a night that advantaged horses racing on the speed and on the markers.
Once he had the trail, Cochy Malc was always going to be hard to beat and he zipped past the leader when presented up the passing lane, eventually winning comfortably by one and a half lengths.
“We took advantage early and followed the right one in the race, so everything worked out good,” Orange said after the race.
Cochy Malc ran the 2600m stand in a slick 3-17.8 with a final 800m in 59.6 seconds. He was also a popular winner with the punters after a hefty plunge caved his fixed odds from $6.00 on opening into a $3.30 favourite on tote close.
