It’ll be all hands on deck for Woodend Beach harness racing trainers Robert and Jenna Dunn when they load up eighteen horses for Addington on Saturday.
The operation runs a tight ship with large training numbers on their books and those skills will transfer to race day as their charge for another training premiership gets super serious.
Current premiership leaders Steve and Amanda Telfer will take a team of nine to Addington and with the Telfers only holding a three win buffer, many are backing the Dunns to take up the top slot once the eleven race card is ‘Dunn and dusted’. Time will Telfer!!
Let’s run through Robert and Jenna’s assault with Robert Dunn.
Race One: Bounce and Beyond (Majestic Son) draws two on the second row in a 1980 metre mobile trot.
Race Two: In this race the Dunns have a three pronged attack with Neverseentherain (Always B Miki), Kairaki Delight (Art Major) and Always A Porche (Always B Miki).
Of the three runners Robert say’s Neverseentherain is the stable’s best bet.
He says Kairaki Delight will need to improve.
Always A Porche is a horse Robert labels as one for the future.
Race Three: Fergalicious (Art Major) represents the stable, is great form and gets a nice draw.
Race Four: Kairaki Confidential (Art Major) draws the inside of the second row and is rated by his trainers.
Race Six: Sunnys Sister (Majestic Son) starts in the G1 ‘Fred Shaw Memorial’ NZ Trotting Championship. A big step up in grade.
Race Seven: Hayley’s Delight (Bettors Delight) barrier 4.
“She’s not having a lot of luck in her races. This may be a bit tough for her and if she finishes in the top four we’ll be happy,” Dunn said.
Race Nine: Mighty Logan (Creatine), Andy Hall (Andover Hall) and Nazareth (Love You) are the Dunn stable runners.
Since joining the Dunn stable Mighty Logan has been in great form.
Dunn says he hopes Andy Hall will improve on his last run when his manners let him down. Nazareth has been having a few problems. “He’s been getting real square in his gait. He’s had a better week this week, hence we’re starting him.”
Race Ten: Dalton Shard (Always B Miki), Dashing Major (Art Major), Double Time (A Rocknroll Dance) and Triple G (Downbytheseaside) complete a four prong attack on this race. Dunn rates Triple G as the stables bet bet.
Race Eleven: Dance Til Dawn (Art Major) rounds off a busy night and has to contend with an inside second row draw.
