Emerging talent Le Major (Art Major) will be out to continue his winning harness racing form in Friday night’s $200,000 Listed NZB Standardbred Harness MillionTwo-Year-Old Colts And Geldings Final (1980m) at Addington.
The NZB Standardbred graduate comes into the lucrative feature after winning his last three starts on end for trainer Arna Donnelly.
Donnelly was thrilled her classy pacer was able to clinch a front line draw in barrier 4 in the Harness Million Two-Year-Old Colts And Geldings Final.
“For once we get a good draw, which is nice, because he’s been drawing ordinary since he started racing,” the trainer said.
Le Major has shown real class in his recent victories before travelling south to contest Friday night’s Listed event.
Though Donnelly has good respect for the classy field that has been assembled for Friday night’s event, she has plenty of faith in her horse.
“I have huge respect for a lot of the horses in that field, but I think my guys ticks all the boxes,” Donnelly said.
Donnelly secured Le Major for $28,000 when he was offered among the Rosedale Farm draft at the 2022 National Yearling Sale at Christchurch.
Five-time winnerVessem (Vincent) looks one of the biggest challengers to Le Major.
The Mark and Nathan Purdon trained pacer fought hard for fifth behind his stablemate and fellow Harness Million contender Chase A Dream (Captaintreacherous).
Both Purdon runners will have to overcome wide second row draws on Friday night, though few would doubt their ability to do so given the class they have shown in their recent outings.
Up and comers Hadron Collider (Sweet Lou) and Renegade (Captaintreacherous) add interest to a highly intriguing Harness Million Final.
Both horses lack the experience that several of their rivals have, but it is clear both bring serious talent to Friday night’s race.
Hadron Collider has shown continual improvement in his three starts for the Robert and Jenna Dunn stable, including running a strong second behind Chase A Dream in their last starts.
Renegade worked home stylishly from a wide draw in the same race and he again faces a similar task in Friday night’s event.
The outstanding field for the $200,000 NZB Standardbred Harness Million Two-Year-Old Colts And Geldings Final is set to go head to head 7.09pm at Addington on Friday night.
